Subject:LM2642 troubleshooting: Signal integrity.
Message:
My proto of an LM2642 app had two faults: Turnon was stuttering, and slower than planned, both are reported by others. Solution: Powerfet gate C is 1000pF or more, and the '2642 sources 0.5A gate drive, meaning 10V rise in 20nS. I used a 10uF ceramic cap at the power pin, with good local grounding. Fixed.
