Job Description:
National Semiconductor desires a Product Marketing Engineer to manage a growing family of power management ICs targeting embedded communications, computing, and industrial applications. The ideal candidate should possess basic technical understanding of power conversion/management architectures and/or power IC operating theory. Previous experience in dealing with infrastructure communications/computing customers and/or DC/DC converter design/applications engineering experience is a plus.

The Product Marketing position is responsible for market selection and product definition through market analysis and rigorous business plans that result in a higher product adoption rate, higher revenue per product, and market share growth in target markets.

The Product Marketing role emphasizes the activities associated with the new product phase review system beginning with a detailed market analysis, conducting competitive analysis, formulating NSC’s business case with the value proposition, and a “go to market” plan. The Product Marketing responsibilities include the preliminary product proposal with market, customer, competitor, and technology assumptions resulting in the new product decision. This position is responsible for the development of a detailed business case, outlining risks and development team timelines, with regular updates of the business case assumptions. Additional responsibilities include development of an overall launch plan that supports the targeted markets and customers identified in the business case. Assignments include duties associated with product adoption within desired markets and customers. This would include customer selection, pricing strategies, support of design win activity, and lifecycle management.

Key responsibilities Include:
- Conducting product presentations and/or interviews with focus customers in order to identify opportunities for existing products and requirements for new products.
- Developing business plans, marketing strategy and forecasts for assigned product lines.
- Maintaining current status of customer requirements for existing and future products. Identifies, evaluates and recommends marketing opportunities consistent with product line objectives.
- Providing product consultation to field personnel and customers about new and existing products as well as to R&D team during the design stage of products.
- Participating in new product selection process, helps to prepare the AOP, launching new products, and may be responsible for sales and profit in designated areas.
- Planning, preparation, and presentation of product introduction strategies.

This position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience with BSEE or equivalent; 2 years of experience with MSEE or equivalent; 0 years of experience with Ph.D. or equivalent and experience with DC/DC conversion architectures and/or power IC operating theory.
