National Semiconductor – Regulatory Compliance Engineer – Worldwide Quality Network - Santa Clara, CA
As our Regulatory Compliance Engineer, you will play a central role in working with all system level product groups (Renewable Energy Key Market Segments, LED Lighting, Smart Energy Management Systems) on new product certifications and you will also work and interface with our manufacturing groups. You will have the opportunity to work with our development teams and the Nationally Recognized Test Labs (NRTL’s)
Responsibilities:
Work closely with product development teams and NRTLs (Nationally Recognized Test Labs) in achieving product certification and regulatory approvals.
Develop regulatory and safety testing strategies and define certification requirements for the required regions in the world and serve as a liaison with NRTLs in executing the certification.
Ability to interpret safety standards, perform construction review and negotiate with the NRTL’s to develop certification test plans.
Direct/conduct compliance testing, lead efforts to solve mechanical, EMI and safety problems.
Product compliance requirements include RF compatibility, electromagnetic compatibility (interference & immunity) and safety requirements.
Requirements:
BS or MS in EE with 5+ years of direct experience in product certification area.
Familiarity with the product safety and electromagnetic emissions standards of North America and Europe (UL, IEC, NEMA, NEC code etc.)
Experience in EMC and RF test measurement methods
Experience in test development and test witnessing/recording
Working experience at an NRTL and familiarity with UL1703, UL1741, UL1310, UL1642, IEC 61010, IEC 61347, IEC 61215, IEC 61730, NEMA 250, IEC 60529 EN 61000, FCC Part 15 would be a big plus
Familiarity with SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) standards
Strong technical and problem solving skills and concern for quality
Communication and negotiation skills a must!
